about
Headed by Greek producer and supreme beat-head George Fotiadis, these four nu-funk bombs under his moniker mixes up live production with samples in the vein of the titular hero, J Dilla. "Here Comes Our Dilla" mixes cop-show guitars and clavs with a flute that sit on top of the tune like a glace cherry on a cupcake. "Mission Jazz" does a neat trick by combining James Brown's "Funky President" beat with a bossa nova sway, while the Godfather gets further recognition on "Soul Men" which kicks off with a JB-style "are you ready?" intro from the band. "Boogaloo Express" alone is worth snapping up the EP for though - a lively Northern Soul stomper that'll never go out of style.
